Elgato Prompter for phone video: the built-in display does not complete the phone mounting kit

Elgato Prompter includes its display, but a U.S. buyer planning phone-based video should check the mounting arrangement separately. The official FAQ lists a smartphone mount as an additional component. A built-in screen and a universal bracket are not evidence that a phone can be secured using only the items visible in a standard product photograph.

Phone filming component How to count it
Prompter display Included in the documented standard contents.
Phone clamp The FAQ requires a separate quarter-inch Smartphone Mount.
Universal shroud and camera bracket Named as included for the documented phone route.
Supporting mount and phone Identify them separately and verify the complete arrangement.

Read the smartphone-specific inventory

The Elgato FAQ, checked October 25, 2026, lists Prompter with display, backplates, a universal bracket, and mounting hardware among box contents. Its smartphone section specifies a quarter-inch Smartphone Mount sold separately, plus a phone, the included universal shroud and camera bracket, and a support mount with a quarter-inch screw.

This guide concerns the original Prompter hardware and that documented phone route. It does not infer that every phone fits a particular clamp, that every support can carry the assembled kit, or that another Elgato product uses the same parts. Exact model fit remains a separate verification task.

Evaluate a complete filming arrangement

List the phone, clamp, Prompter, and supporting mount as distinct items. Identify which ones you already own and which the offered bundle actually supplies. This is especially useful when a creator is upgrading from handheld phone recording and has not previously needed a desk or floor support.

Our editorial judgement is to resolve support and framing before evaluating software conveniences. A readable script does not help if the intended camera view or mounting position cannot be achieved. Ask for dimensions and compatible hardware evidence rather than assuming the word universal settles all physical requirements.

Distinguish the display from the camera

The display serves the reading arrangement; it is not evidence that a recording camera comes in the box. Keep the recording device and the computer or other supported display workflow in the plan. This article has not tested software versions, screen behavior, lens obstruction, or phone recording performance.

A useful acceptance task is a short framed recording using the intended phone and support arrangement. Inspect whether the planned composition is achievable before committing to an important shoot. The task should identify the equipment used; a demonstration built around a different camera cannot verify the phone-specific mounting requirement.

Check the written U.S. offer

Ask the seller for a complete itemized contents list, especially when a bundle photograph shows several branded accessories. Match every separately purchased component to its own documentation. A mount’s inclusion in a promotional setup does not prove it is included in the offer or suitable for the buyer’s phone.

No live price, stock claim, hands-on display rating, universal clamp verdict, or software-version recommendation is provided. The official FAQ contains other compatibility conditions that must be checked for the intended computer. The supported purchase conclusion is narrower: a phone-based Prompter setup requires a mounting plan beyond the display’s standard box contents.
